Throughout the process ask yourself : “What do I want to remember about this time in my life?” This will help you figure out what is special enough to you to commemorate in your senior photos.

SENIOR PHOTOS

YOUR STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO A GREAT EXPERIENCE

First things first, let’s get your appointment on the books! Here are some things to think about as you decide on a date:

  • Start thinking about the season in which you want photos taken. A few things to consider:
    - Do you want to schedule at the beginning of your senior year so you will be tan from summer?
    - Are you involved in a specific sport or activity that will make it difficult to schedule certain times of the year?
    - Do you have a specific outfit in mind that might impact timing?
    - Do you want to wait until spring and incorporate any post-graduation plans?

There’s no right or wrong time for your session - I typically schedule senior photos all year long. Ideally, you will schedule several months or weeks out so you have lots of time to plan your outfits and so on, but - if you need to schedule for NEXT WEEK or ASAP, I’ll fit you in if I can. You won’t be the first to call with an urgent scheduling request, and you won’t be the last. Seniors are busy people!

  • Choosing a location that has special meaning to you is a great way to personalize your photos and help you capture a vivid memory of your senior year. But, don’t worry - Central Ohio is full of beautiful locations, so if you don’t have any special places in mind, I can suggest a few that are tried and true.

Here are some examples of locations that have worked well in some of my past senior sessions:
    - Your school (inside or out)
    - On a sports field, in a gym, at a pool, on a tennis court
    - In a library, at a bookstore, in a coffee shop
    - In a museum or in front of a mural
    - In front of a theater or on a stage
    - On top or a parking garage or at a farm
    - On an airport runway
The possibilities are endless, and no idea is too big or too small. One thing, though - if you have a specific place in mind, be sure to let me know in advance so I can make arrangements for us to have access and so I can plan for the appropriate lighting for that setting.

Now that you’ve gotten on the schedule, it’s time to think about the details of the session.

  • First and most important, go with comfort and clothes that make you feel good. If you don’t feel comfortable, you won’t look comfortable. Keep in mind that we want the focus on your face, eyes and personality.

There really are no right or wrong outfits. This is your photo shoot and it should best represent who you are.

When considering clothing options here are a few things to keep in mind:

    • What colors look best on you?

    • Are there certain articles of clothing that will make you remember this time in your life. A certain hoodie, a letter jacket, ballet shoes, pieces of jewelry, tennis shoes you love. My oldest son took some of his photos in a red sweatshirt that he wore all the time and when I think about that time in his life I remember him wearing that sweatshirt.

    • You can dress up if you want or dress very casually or both.

  • Remember that the whole point of your senior photos is to capture images of you at this special time in your life. You should look like YOU.

If you want to get a hair cut before the session, make sure to do it at last a week in advance. Give your new hair cut some time to relax a bit and look a bit more like you do on the day to day.

Avoid experimental hairstyles. This is not the best time to try out a new hairstyle. Just amp up the styles you wear on a regular basis for a natural look that represents you.

  • While you may want a bit more coverage than usual for your photos, a natural look photographs best and will be the most timeless. That said, I can and will edit out any blemishes if they inconveniently pop up when your session is scheduled, so don’t feel the need to cake on heavy makeup to hide them if they appear!

A typical session lasts 2 - 3 hours. Here’s what you’ll need to make the most of it!

  • I’ll send you a text the day before your session to confirm date, time, and location. If you haven’t heard from me, please reach out.

  • Give yourself plenty of time to arrive and find parking. You’ll feel more at ease if you aren’t rushing.

Your proofs will be ready to view 2-3 weeks after your session. Once you’ve selected your favorite images, I will do retouching, color balancing, and editing. Then, you’ll have 30 days to order prints or downloads.

  • After the photo shoot I will email you your invoice for the session fee and a private proof gallery of 30-40 photos within 2-3 weeks. Your photo proofs are just your photos with very basic edits done, no skin touch ups etc.

Take some time to review your proofs and decide how many photos you would like to order and you can mark them as favorites directly in your proof gallery. (I’ll provide detailed instruction on how to do this when I share your Proof Gallery with you).

  • Once you’ve selected your favorite images, I will make final edits on all selections. This includes things like touch ups, color correction, and anything else that needs to be done.

Once that’s done, I will send you a new, final gallery of your selected photos and send you an invoice for final photo payment for any additional photos you chose.

  • The shopping cart will be enabled on the final gallery and you will be able to download the photos and order any prints or products directly from the gallery. You can take your downloads and print them anywhere of your choosing, but, as a reminder, I recommend that you only print at a professional printing establishment. Prints and products can only be guaranteed if ordered through my website.

Your gallery of final images will remain active and online for 60 days. Please make sure to securely save your digital images!
